Northeast Florida: Host City for ConvergeFL Web Conference

In which city can you find the latest in web design, development, insight and inspiration? All can be found in Jacksonville, Fla. For three days in September, representatives from Facebook, Google, Mailchimp, Happy Cog and others will converge on the city for the ConvergeFL conference to discuss the newest technologies and latest innovations shaping the future of the web.

ConvergeFL, to be held in Jacksonville from Sept. 11-13, marks the recognition of the region as a growing area of online talent.

The organizers of ConvergeFL selected Jacksonville as its host city due to the region’s emerging web community. The area is home to talented and innovative web companies such as Web.com, nGenWorks, Hashrocket, Greenhouse Studio and others. In fact, Bloomberg Business Week ranked Jacksonville 4th on its list of Cities with the Biggest Growth in Tech Jobs.

JAXUSA Partnership, the region’s economic development organization, works to promote the local web design talent pool to companies regionally and nationally by supporting and sponsoring major industry conferences, such as ConvergeFL.

Modeled after ConvergeSE, a conference in Columbia, SC, that has been inspiring web designers for five years, ConvergeFL is expected to attract more than 250 attendees from across the Southeast and will offer workshops and speakers from around the country.

Some of the keynote speakers at the conference include: Jared Spool, head of User Interface Engineering; Daniel Burka, a design partner at Google Ventures; Marty Ringlien, member of President Obama’s Innovation Council; and Cameron Moll, a featured designer.

Carl Smith of nGenWorks was instrumental in bringing ConvergeFL to the city. “Jacksonville has some of the most talented web design people in the country and a concentration of successful design companies,” Smith explained. “This conference will help showcase our leading edge web community and put Jacksonville on the map as the next web design hotspot.”

Jacksonville web designers hope ConvergeFL will become a signature web event for Northeast Florida, further cementing Jacksonville’s status as a talented and innovative web design hub.
