In 2012, Advanced Disposal Services, Inc., an integrated environmental services company, was in need of a new corporate headquarters facility to house its expanding company and new staff after the consolidation of Interstate Waste Services and Veolia ES Solid Waste into Advanced Disposal. Advanced Disposal worked in conjunction with JAXUSA while considering Northeast Florida in its search for a new headquarters.

Advanced Disposal, the largest privately-owned environmental services company in the United States, provides integrated, non-hazardous solid waste collection, transfer, recycling and disposal services in the Eastern United States. Advanced Disposal owns and operates commercial, industrial, and residential solid waste collection operations, municipal solid waste landfills, transfer stations, and recycling facilities.

The official selection of Northeast Florida for its corporate headquarters was announced after an extensive search in Atlanta, Charlotte, Milwaukee and Northeast Florida. The decision came down to what was the best business decision for the company in terms of state and local financial incentives, corporate and individual income taxes, relocation expenses, negotiated office space fees and a region-wide business friendly environment. The new corporate headquarters is located in St. Johns County. The headquarters move expects to bring with it 85 new jobs and a capital investment of approximately $4 million.
