All Business at THE PLAYERS Championship

The Players ChampionshipMany business deals have been brokered during a few rounds of golf. In fact, it has become somewhat of a cliché.  But, high-profile sporting events, including the PGA’s THE PLAYERS Championship in Ponte Vedra, are becoming a business platform for reaching wider audiences and making connections.

For the first week of May every year, THE PLAYERS Championship provides the perfect stage for companies to do business and entertain clients in our region. The event brings first-class golf to the Northeast Florida; more than 179,000 golf spectators, business executives and media from around the world attended last year’s tournament.

Matt Rapp, executive director of THE PLAYERS states, “More than 400 local, national and international businesses use the tournament to entertain clients, build relationships and network.”

Not only does the golf tournament create its own regional economic impact of $151 million to Northeast Florida, it creates a venue and an occasion for business entertainment and dealing which may create future business impacts. Its global television audience – the tournament is broadcast in 32 languages – also helps to showcase Northeast Florida and its recreational golf opportunities to the world, which is always good for business.
