GE considered other states and countries before choosing Jacksonville. Julie DeWane, a vice president for supply chain management at GE said Jacksonville emerged as the “clear choice” for the plant. The Jacksonville facility, expected to open in November 2014, will custom design and manufacture the company’s Mooney brand regulators and Becker control valves.

GE will invest at least $50 million in equipment and technology for the building and create up to 500 manufacturing, administrative, engineering and other functional roles within the next three years.
