Jacksonville Ranks 3rd in the Nation for Economic Growth

Jacksonville is making an impact, ranked number three for economic growth among large U.S. cities by Coworking Café. The study highlighted how Jacksonville’s population growth was a huge driver for the city’s economic success – a 9% increase in population from 2022-2023, which brought in more than 14,000 new residents. The city also experienced a 43% growth in GDP, 25% export gains and 10% housing development during the same period. Coworking Café mentions how the city is consistently investing in its transportation infrastructure to meet the needs of the growing population as well as upgrades at JAXPORT for global business growth, which are key contributors to this success.

Northeast Florida has more than 100 new residents moving to the region every day, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. From 2023 to 2028, Jacksonville is expected to grow by 11%, which is faster than any other major Florida metro, the state and the country (Lightcast, 2025). Northeast Florida is consistently recognized for its endless job opportunities and superior quality of life, which is why it’s no surprise so many people are making the move to the region. Among its many accolades, Jacksonville was named one of the top 10 most popular moving destinations as well as one of the best big cities to live and a top choice for relocating homebuyers. As the second hottest job market in the nation and number one on the east coast, young professionals are seeing the benefits of growing their career in the region, which is why Jacksonville is one of the top five cities for attracting college graduates.

Companies see Jacksonville as the desired destination to do business. Since 2019, JAXUSA has helped more than 111 companies relocate or expand their operations, creating more than 16,000 new direct jobs and a capital investment of $6.2 billion for the region to date. Jacksonville is keeping pace with the other top two cities in the study, Austin and Sacramento, but stands out for its strength in the advanced manufacturing and transportation and logistics industries. With the region’s strong infrastructure networks, including three interstates, three railroads, four deep-water port terminals and an international airport, Jacksonville has earned its reputation as America’s Logistics Center – a reputation reinforced by the 5,800 jobs in advanced manufacturing and 4,071 jobs in transportation and logistics created across the region since 2019. Just recently, Duval County was ranked #2 for project activity along I-95.

With a booming population, thriving economy and unmatched quality of life, Jacksonville is a global destination for growth. For companies looking to expand or individuals looking for opportunity, Jacksonville is making a strong case – the future is being built here.
