JAXUSA Reflects on 10 Years of London Partnership
In the Jacksonville region’s continued commitment to draw global industry to Northeast Florida, a delegation comprised of Jacksonville city officials, area business leaders and staff from JAXUSA Partnership and JAX Chamber is embarking on the 10th annual economic development mission to the United Kingdom.
This year’s mission will focus on the region’s strengths in financial services and life sciences. Jacksonville is recognized around the world for its fintech ecosystem and is growing in recognition for its life science disciplines of medical device manufacturing, clinical trials, translational research and biomedical sciences. The team will meet with leaders in these areas and discuss plans for expansion and growth and how the Jacksonville region can effectively support those plans. These meetings coincide with the annual international home game for the Jacksonville Jaguars at London’s Wembley Stadium on October 1.
These efforts over the last ten years have led to the creation of U.S. headquarters and the growth of high wage jobs in the Jacksonville region. Paysafe and SmartStream Technologies have both expanded their operations to the area in the last few years as a result of these efforts, compounding the region’s strength in finance and technology. Northeast Florida is also known in healthcare for specializing in cutting edge medical devices and being one of only three Mayo Clinics, and one of six Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Centers. Core operations centers cutting-edge medical companies including Medtronic, McKesson, Availity, Forcura and many others.
The Jacksonville region will continue to embrace innovation, collaboration and growth as it continues its partnership with London as well as the broader global community. By fostering international business relationships, Jacksonville will keep growing its global presence while developing the local economy.
