Mayo Clinic Breaks Ground on Cutting-Edge Cancer Treatment Facility in Jacksonville
Mayo Clinic recently announced their plans to provide a new cancer treatment at their Jacksonville campus, with the new facility now under construction. This new treatment will be the first of its kind in the United States and will use carbon ion radiation therapy which specifically targets the location of cancer cells while avoiding major damage to the surrounding area. The first treatment is expected to be available in 2028.
The addition of this new cancer center reinforces Northeast Florida’s position as a leading health care destination that offers state-of-the-art treatments and care from cutting-edge companies such as the Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center and the UF Proton Therapy Institute.
The research and technology this new treatment uses will revolutionize how we treat cancer, setting a new standard for groundbreaking medical advancements and pushing Jacksonville to the forefront of innovative care.
