OptumRx Planning 300-Job Call Center in Flagler Center

The square footage is 47,853 square feet. The City also is reviewing a permit application for temporary training space at Flagler Center for OptumRx.

UnitedHealth Group, based in Minnetonka, Minn., is a health benefits services company.

“This is a wonderful company and a great 'get' for Jacksonville,” said University of North Florida President John Delaney, chair of the JAXUSA Partnership economic development division of the JAX Chamber.

“It is not just the direct jobs that United Health will employ, but also the construction and engineering workers who will build out the space,” Delaney said.

A statement from Mayor Alvin Brown's office said Brown is “very supportive of this growing sector of the business community.”

“Health care is one of our targeted industries and we anticipate this growth to continue to elevate our other medically related businesses and institutions. This project continues to highlight Jacksonville's standing as medical hub in the Southeast,” said the statement.

UnitedHealth is advertising for Jacksonville employees, including a customer service director for OptumRx. That position's description is to “provide leadership for managers and supervisors as well as the 300 customer service advocates in an inbound call center environment” and to provide day-to-day oversight of a 24/7 call center. The company also seeks, but does not require, experience starting up a call center in a new location.

The jobs available include senior customer service representative, lead customer service representative, call center workforce supervisor, call center workforce representative, customer service quality/audit representative and on-site utilization management nurse.

A job fair for customer service representatives is scheduled 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Embassy Suites on Baymeadows Road.
