Science First, a manufacturer of astronomy and physics education equipment, recently purchased Science Source, a manufacturer of science education equipment located in Waldoboro, Maine. Science First is also the premiere manufacturer of the STARLAB and digital STARLAB planetariums. Inventory and assets were moved immediately to Science First’s headquarters in Yulee, Florida.

Building Component Supply, a manufacturer of roof and floor trusses, wall panels, and other engineered products, moved its facility to Green Cove Springs. The company moved to expand its manufacturing capabilities.

Selene Finance, a residential mortgage company that provides mortgage loan servicing, is expanding its Jacksonville operations by 105 jobs.

Sunshine Health

Sunshine Health, a subsidiary of Fortune 500 company St. Louis-based Centene Corp., is a Medicaid health plan that has been providing services in Florida since 2009; serving more than 220,000 members. In April 2014, Sunshine Health worked in conjunction with the City and JAXUSA to come to an incentive agreement — in return for making a capital investment of up to $900,000 to grow its local operations and adding 125 positions.

Defenshield Inc., a company constructing military-grade bulletproof shields and barriers, announced last month plans to move its headquarters from upstate New York to St. Augustine. The CEO, Collins White, decided to leave the Empire State after new laws prohibited the guns he used to test the Defenshield products. Defenshield has received $9.9 million in government contracts since 2006, and has clients across the globe and offices in New York and Washington.

Ideal Aluminum is moving its corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility to St. Johns County. The company has purchased a 145,500-square-foot warehouse in St. Augustine, where it will bring 90 manufacturing and headquarters jobs and a capital investment of $6.5 million dollars.

Adecco Group North America

Adecco Group North America, the nation’s leading provider of workforce and recruitment solutions, announced last month it plans to move its corporate headquarters from New York to Jacksonville, bringing with it 185 high-wage jobs. The company plans to invest $3.4 million in the local economy as a result of this relocation.

In 2013, R. J. Corman Signaling Company was looking to provide control systems engineering services in Florida. R. J. Corman Signaling was a new division of R. J. Corman Railroad Group, a $300 million Kentucky-based company that provides a variety of services to the railroad industry. The company worked with JAXUSA to secure a location in Clay County.

Aveo Engineering, a global manufacturer of LED lights for aerospace, marine and other industries with harsh environments, worked in coordination with JAXUSA for a home for its first U. S. manufacturing base location. With customers like Gulfstream, Boeing, and Lockheed Martin, Aveo’s U.S. market is on the rise.

Walmart

The Walmart distribution center is the largest employer in Baker County and has the largest facility in the county under one roof with more than 800,000 square feet of freezer/refrigeration space for distribution of food within the Southeastern United States.
